Where to eat in Ericeira
You may not believe it, but the small surfer village of Ericeria has everything a foodie could want, from sushi to pizza to mezze...
Indigo
The bohemian beach bar at Foz de Lizandro is more beachy than the places at Praia do Sul. Here you can really feel out of place and enjoy the sunset while dancing barefoot on the beach. heir terrace is one of the most beautiful, overlooking the beautiful Foz de Lizandro beach and with huge cushions and steps to gather and have wine and really good food (my favorite is the quinoa poke bowl with tuna) while watching the sunset. This place really has 100% vacation vibes. It is a 10 minutes drive from inner Ericeria, but it is also possible to walk (around 30 minutes) by the coastline. Note: From here you can take the beautiful walk to Praia Sao Juliao.
Balagan
Balaban is just amazing - the food, the vibe, the decor. The cafe opens at 10am and serves Baoba coffee, which can't compete with the view and interior of this place. Located right on Praia do Sul, you can sit and see the surfers, the coastline and the beautiful decor. All earthy tones, bohemian vibe of this place. By the way: The Balabans food is also amazing.
The food is Israeli, fresh but not cheap. Perfect for a date night. You can either sit on their beautiful rooftop terrace or inside and enjoy their stylish bohemian interior. We went there often and had the chance to attend their season opening party, which was a blast!
Peppe Verde Pizza
Simple interior, friendly staff, right in the center of town, and amazing pizza. Nothing else to say. Make a reservation. Try the pumpkin spice pizza! Oh, and order the red house wine for 11 euros a bottle (the Negroni for 6 has it in it). Have fun! Best to reserve!
Tik Tapas
This place is insanely hard to get into because it is so popular with the locals. The staff is super efficient and the tapas are really, really good. The filets in champagne sauce deserve a special mention. You can make reservations by phone and they also have really cute tables outside. Good to know: it is located 300m from the Adegar bar, where you can get your digestive!
7 Praias da Baleia
Newly reopened and located next to Balagan right on Praia do Sul, we were surprised by the good quality of the seafood. We only ordered appetizers and shared the shrimp and mussels. The portions were big enough and really good. Nice if you don't feel like going to Balagan but don't want to eat Toasta Mista for the hundredth time. Don't be fooled, it's still cheap for German standards.
In case you haven't gotten enough options already, here are some more:
Uni Sushi
If you're staying in Erceira for a while and are tired of boiled or grilled shrimp, Uni Sushi offers really good sushi for a good price.
La Popular Taberna
Cute little taberna with only a few tables inside. They only offer 10 different tapas, but they are really good. The atmosphere is really cozy. If you are looking for comfort, dimmed lights and coziness, this is the place for you. Vegetarians might have a hard time here!
Esplanada Furnas
Spectacularly located on the rocks, this is a classic Portuguese fish restaurant. Before being led to your table, you choose your fish from the display, which is then prepared for you. We chose lobster and enjoyed the view of the cliffs very much. Paid by the kilo price and it is not quite cheap.
