How to spent 3 days in Marrakech

Marrakech is a city full of vibrant culture and bustling markets that will leave you amazed at every turn. Even if you only have 3 days, it is definitely enough to get a taste. You will want to come back for more.

Day 1

Start your day by visiting the Jemaa el-Fna market square and the Souk Semmarine. This is the perfect place to experience the city's famous trading culture. Don't be afraid to haggle with the merchants, and remember to always be respectful and kind.

One of the highlights of the market is the spice market in front of Cafe des Epices and the carpet market located at the corner. The vibrant colors and textures of the Berber-style suede pillowcases are sure to catch your eye.

After the market, head over to Le Jardin Secret, a stunning garden located in the heart of the Medina. The garden is open from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and is a must-see attraction in Marrakech. Be sure to reserve your tickets in advance to avoid any wait times. Inside the garden, you'll find a beautiful cafe and restaurant to enjoy a quick bite or a relaxing drink.

For lunch, check out Nomad Marrakech, where you can enjoy delicious traditional Moroccan cuisine. Alternatively, Cafe des Epices is another great option for lunch with a more laid-back atmosphere.

Next, visit the Medersa Ben Youssef Koranic School. This historical site is breathtaking, and you'll be amazed by the intricate tile work and design. This is also one of the few places in the city where women are allowed inside. So be sure  to take pictures in front of the amazing panorama.

In the evening, head back to Jemaa el-Fna and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere. There will be plenty of entertainment to watch, but be careful about what you eat. Your stomach may not be accustomed to the local cuisine, so it's better to avoid street food. Take a look at the Koutoubia Mosque, located near the market square. Although visitors aren't allowed inside the mosque, the stunning architecture is worth admiring from the outside.

Finally, end your day by enjoying a traditional dinner at Le Foundouk. This is a great spot to try Moroccan specialties like Tajine or Couscous. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere and is the perfect way to end your day in Marrakech.

Day 2

Day 2 in Marrakech is all about exploring the city's vibrant culture and history. Start the morning off with a visit to the Jardin Majorelle and YSL Museum, as well as the Berber Museum. Make sure to book your tickets in advance and arrive on time. The museum has a charming cafe where you can enjoy a cup of Moroccan tea or other beverages.

For lunch, head to L'mida in the middle of the medina. The restaurant offers a modern interpretation of classic Moroccan food, and the view from their rooftop is simply breathtaking. The interior is also very stylish and unique.

After lunch, take a stroll to the other end of the medina and visit the Bahia Palace. This stunning palace features beautiful views, intricate tilework, and lovely gardens. The walk there through the medina is also a treat in itself.

Afterwards head to Dardar Rooftop, which is located only a few steps from Bahia Palace, for a drink or dinner. This trendy spot offers an amazing view of the sunset behind the Mosque, and the ambiance is truly enchanting. Be sure to book your spot in advance, as it can get quite crowded. If you prefer a more traditional dinner, Ksar Essassouar is a great option. They offer a 4-course menu in the traditional Moroccan style served on etageres for only 450 dirhams.

Day 3

On your last day in Marrakech, why not escape the hustle and bustle of the city and book a trip to the Agafy Desert or Atlas Mountains? There are many options available on Airbnb Experiences or Getyour Guide, and they will provide you with a pick-up point in the city center. Depending on the tour you book, you can have lunch in a desert camp (check out Agafy Desert Camp by Selina) or venture further into the Atlas Mountains. We opted for the latter and were amazed by how quickly the scenery changed. One minute we were riding camels in the desert, and the next we found ourselves in a beautiful little Berber village with snow-capped mountains in the distance. Most tours take a full day, so you'll be back in Marrakech for dinner. If you have time, consider treating yourself to a spa treatment after a long day and end your Marrakech trip feeling like a Persian princess.
